    Rebuilt our booking system and actually explained the trade-offs

    We came to Apaxon with a booking flow that dropped about a third of customers at payment. They spent the first week just measuring before proposing anything, which was not what we expected but turned out to be the point — the problem was not the payment step at all, it was a validation error two screens earlier that never surfaced. Rebuilt, tested, and live in six weeks. Drop-off is now under 8%.

    Straightforward, no jargon, delivered on the date they gave us

    Needed a WordPress build migrated off a very old host with a lot of custom plugin work tangled into the theme. Apaxon quoted a fixed price, gave a date, and hit it. Where they found extra work they told us before doing it rather than after. The handover documentation is genuinely usable by our own team, which in my experience is rare.

    Strong technical work, project management could be tighter

    No complaints about the build quality — the site is fast and has been rock solid since launch. What I would push back on is communication during the middle stretch. There were about ten days where I did not hear anything and had to chase for a status. When I did ask, the answer was thorough and the work had been getting done. I would just rather have known.

    Fixed a problem two other agencies had given up on

    Intermittent checkout failure that only affected about 2% of orders, which made it almost impossible to reproduce. Two previous developers told us it was a payment provider issue and closed the ticket. Apaxon instrumented the flow, caught it within a fortnight — a race condition in our own inventory sync — and fixed it. Two per cent of orders is a lot of money over a year.

    Good work but we were the wrong size of client

    The quality was not in question. The issue was fit — we are a two-person business and wanted something small and quick, and the process we got was built for larger projects. Discovery, staging, review cycles. All sensible for a bigger build, all overhead for what we needed. They were upfront that it might not suit us and refunded part of the discovery fee when we said so.

    Took over a half-finished project without drama

    Our previous developer stopped responding with the build about 70% done. Apaxon audited what existed, told us plainly which parts were salvageable and which were not, and gave two options with prices rather than one. No lecture about the state of the code, which I braced for. Finished it in five weeks.

    Solid, though the invoice came in over the estimate

    Happy with the outcome and would use them again. The final figure was about 12% over the estimate because of scope we added mid-way, which is partly on us. They did flag it at the time; I would have preferred a written change note rather than a mention on a call.

    Answered the phone when our site went down on a Sunday

    Hosting provider had an outage and our site was down mid-campaign. Not their fault and not their contract, but they picked up, moved us to a temporary host and had us back inside two hours on a Sunday afternoon. Invoiced for two hours at the normal rate, which they did not have to do at all.

    Slipped badly on timeline and I had to keep asking

    The finished product is fine. Getting there took eleven weeks against a quoted six, and most of the updates came because I asked rather than because they told me. I understand that a dependency they relied on changed underneath them, but that was explained to me in week nine, not week four when they knew.
